Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources (HR) Generalist provides HR support and services to all departments of the Pueblo of Tesuque Development Corporation and Tesuque Casino. Facilitates all aspects of the human resource daily duties including recruiting, performance, employee relations, benefits, as well as assisting with implementing, and maintaining human resources programs, policies, and procedures, along with other tasks as assigned. Additionally the HR Generalist will assist with the supervision of the HR Coordinator.
NOTE: Native American preference will be given
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Administers various Human Resources plans, processes, and procedures for all company personnel.
- Overseas recruitment efforts and talent acquisition for all exempt and non-exempt personnel, including temporary employees; conducts new-employee orientations; assists with generating and posting job vacancy advertisements.
- Process and review HR related actions to ensure they are completed in a timely manner (transfers, promotions, demotions, market adjustments, etc.).
- Supervises and conducts onboarding process for all new hires and re-hires, including completing HRIS database record entries for records management.
- Assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
- Facilitates and serves as the company representative at job fairs for Tesuque Casino.
- Participates in development of department goals, objectives, and systems.
- Assists in the administration of the performance and compensation programs.
- Promotes Tesuque PROUD guest service to all employees and adheres to the Tesuque PROUD Standards.
- Assist with employee relations investigations, counseling and exit interviewing.
- Participates in staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars as needed.
- Assist in maintain the Human Resource Information System records and reports from database.
- Maintains compliance with tribal, federal and state regulations concerning employment.
- Monitors, verifies, and authorizes routine personnel actions and requests pertaining to existing employees and new hires, in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Assists with internal investigations and employee relations matters as assigned.
- Assists in the coordination and facilitation of the training and recognition programs as assigned.
- Assists in the implementation of annual open enrollment for all employees on an annual basis.
- Assists in benefits administration and communication of benefit information to employees.
- Adheres to company policies and procedures.
- Performs other relevant duties as required and assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Associate degree (or higher) in Human Resources, Business Management, or Business Administration, or equivalent college or other training, required.
- Two years Human Resources experience for a Tribal Casino, preferred.
- Experience with employee benefits, policies, procedures, and documentation, required.
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and Tribal employment laws and regulations, policies and procedures, preferred.
- Some supervisory experience.
- Experience presenting training programs and materials.
- PHR or SPHR certification, preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree (or higher) in Human Resources, Business Management, or Business Administration, or equivalent college or other training, required.
- At least three (3) years’ HR experience and experience with HRMS/HRIS systems.
- At least Two (2) years’ experience in recruiting and onboarding.
- Some supervisory experience.
Knowledge of FMLA, ACA, ADA, FLSA, and other employment legislation and regulations.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook).
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Ability to work within a highly stressful environment while remaining calm and professional
- Must be 21 years old or older.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, and obtain and maintain a gaming license from the Pueblo of Tesuque Gaming Commission.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The HR Generalist is responsible for assisting with the supervision of the HR Coordinator on special projects and daily responsibilities. They will help ensure alignment with departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and objectives.
Following initial training, the HR Generalist is expected to perform duties independently, demonstrating proficiency and autonomy in task execution. Occasional spot checks are conducted to evaluate accuracy, adequacy, timeliness, and compliance with relevant rules, regulations, and policies.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently stand, walk, sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, and use a telephone. The employee occasionally is required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee will be required to talk for extended periods and must be able to hear and understand. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to fifteen (15) pounds. The work environment includes a variety of settings, such as: indoors, outdoors, office, casino, and various floor surfaces found in a casino and restaurant environment. The incumbent occasionally exposed to loud noise, change in temperatures, and second-hand smoke.
Work Environment:
Work is generally performed in an office and casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and a high noise level. Most work will be conducted in a business office setting.
