Who we are Campus Planning, Design, & Construction (CPDC) manages the planning, design, and construction of the campus built environment in order to support the teaching and research mission of the university. What we want We are seeking to hire a Facilities and Construction Manager to manage our building designs and construction projects. Furthermore, collaboration and coordination with Facilities Management on topics of maintenance, facility operations, space planning/usage, and building security are expected. As well as serving as a liaison for TAMU System offices, TAMU departments, external design consultants and contractors to facilitate compliance with TAMU and Department requirements, and ensure successful achievement of project outcomes. The scope of responsibility includes serving all departments and divisions that are within the assigned area such as AgriLife, ENGR, etc.. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in related field (e.g. Construction Science, Architecture, Engineering, Facilities Management) or equivalent combination of education and experience Five years of facilities operations, maintenance and construction related experience Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others Ability to comprehend and interpret engineering and construction plans Ability to create construction drawings using AutoCAD software Knowledge and understanding of applicable building codes (NEC, Life Safety, International, ADA) Ability to use word processing spreadsheets, presentation and other business software Required Licenses and Certifications: Class C Drivers License or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire Preferred Experience: TAMU facilities operations and maintenance experience Higher Education facilities operations, maintenance and construction experience Responsibilities: Project Management - Designs and manages building modifications and new construction. Provides planning and oversight of projects. Defines scope of work required by supervising the development of design drawings, preparing cost estimates, and investigating alternatives. Manages the construction process by monitoring the budget, performing inspections, and coordinating outages. Oversees the workflow of the projects logistics to meet specifications. Plans and organizes activities concerned with the construction or maintenance of structures, facilities, or systems. Inspects or reviews projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, security or other regulations. Prepares and submits budget estimates, progress reports, or cost tracking reports. The position requires driving a University or other motor vehicle to project sites that are on and off campus. Agreements - Prepares contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors. Recommendations - Coordinates facility issues with appropriate officials. Serves as a liaison for Facilities Coordinators and Managers. Recommends space allocation and design changes. Works with departments/divisions and negotiate space needs. The scope of responsibility includes all departments and divisions within the assigned area (AgriLife, ENGR, etc.).
