This position is a member of our Air Monitoring Division.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Serve as a Quality Assurance Specialist for various highly complex air, water, and waste programs, as assigned, for the Air Monitoring Division of the TCEQ.
- Review and assist in the preparation of highly complex quality assurance project plans (QAPPs), quality management plans (QMPs), quality assurance management plans, and standard operating procedures (SOPs); makes recommendations; and perform quality assurance and quality control tasks in support of federal, state, and local air, water, and waste programs.
- Assist in preparing annual assessment plans, preparing audit plan, conducting audits, preparing and distributing audit reports; monitoring timeliness of audit responses; and evaluating acceptability and effectiveness of proposed and implemented corrective actions.
- Participate in analyzing past audit/inspection results, complaints, data, and other factors; consulting with agency management; and determining trends and other risks to agency programs and projects.
- Provide highly complex technical assistance to agency management, the quality assurance manager, agency staff, federal and other state agencies, the regulated community, and the public regarding complex sampling, analysis, and data interpretation.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in assisting with or planning and conducting audits, inspections, or investigations, and assisting with or preparing associated reports.
- Experience in assisting with or preparing and reviewing quality assurance project plans, quality management plans, and/or standard operating procedures related to environmental regulatory programs.
- Experience interpreting and administering rules and regulations related to federal and state water, waste, or air quality monitoring programs.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, or related field, plus two years of full-time experience in environmental activities.
One year of full-time experience in the field of environmental activities may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education.
OR
- A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the degrees listed above, plus one year of the required experience.
OR
- A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, science, environmental studies, or related fields.
Career Ladder Progression
- Two years of full-time experience as a Natural Resources Specialist II at TCEQ.
