GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Performs complex (journey-level) grant development and administration work for the Crime Lab Division. Work involves tracking expenses and the metrics that align with the objectives of the assigned grant; interpreting and providing guidance on grant administration policies rules, and regulations. Serves as a liaison between the agency and the grant funding source. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ensures compliance with conditions of grants by monitoring and analyzing agreements, contracts, expenses and activities to meet the objectives of the grant.
2. Interprets policies, rules, or regulations; provides guidance to staff regarding grant administration, compliance, policies, and procedures; and resolves related issues and concerns.
3. Prepares grant closeout materials, grant applications, grant letters of intent and grant award modifications.
4. Provides detailed reporting necessary to meet the grant objectives.
5. Prepares work plans and timelines to ensure submission of grant applications and program reports are timely.
6. Serves as a liaison between the agency, and the grantor by attending meetings, responding to information requests and resolving issues between parties involved.
7. Maintains files and records and prepares reports related to grants issued and or received.
8. Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS:
Education – Graduation from an accredited two-year college or university with a major in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field is required.
Experience – Minimum of two (2) years’ experience performing complex budget accounting including preparing financial reports, analysis of account
activity, capital expenditures, or auditing financial records is required.
Substitution Note: 1 year education may be substituted for each year of experience required, up to one (1) year.
Note: Thirty (30) semesters’ hours will be considered equivalent to one (1) year of education.
Licensure and/or Certification – If driving is required, must possess a valid driver license from state of residence.
Regulatory knowledge – Working knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly assimilate information related to TXDPS, State and Federal regulations,
legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures.
Technology – Proficiency with Microsoft Office and appropriate levels of proficiency with utilized software and systems (e.g. CAPPS, SharePoint) and
be able to learn new software/systems.
Interpersonal Skills – Must demonstrate an ability to exercise poise, tact, diplomacy and an ability to establish and maintain positive,

Analytical/Critical Thinking – Must demonstrate an ability to examine data/information, discern variations/similarities, and be able identify trends,
relationships and causal factors, as well as grasp issues, draw accurate conclusions, and solve problems.
Confidentiality and Protected Information – Must demonstrate an ability to responsibly handle sensitive and confidential information and situations
and adhere to applicable laws/statutes/policies related to access, maintenance and dissemination of information.

safety standards and best practices.
Schedule and/or Remote/Telecommuting Work and/or Travel – Availability for after-hours and weekend work is required. Telecommuting up to 5
days per week. Travel statewide may be required.

A DPS employee who is selected for a position in the same salary group and state title as their current position will be transferred with no salary change.
A DPS employee who is selected for a position in their current salary group with a new state title may receive an increase of no more than 3.4% over their current salary regardless of posted salary.
Salary is contingent upon qualifications and is subject to salary administration and budgetary restrictions.
