Your Role as Hospice Program Director
As the Hospice Program Director, you’ll provide strategic leadership to ensure clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and financial success. Here’s what you’ll do:
Leadership & Team Development:
- Supervise and mentor a team of six direct reports, including Clinical Team Managers, Administrative Staff, and Bereavement Counselors.
- Foster a collaborative environment that promotes staff engagement, teamwork, and professional development.
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement annual strategic plans focused on clinical excellence, financial performance, and market growth.
- Build community awareness of hospice services through outreach and relationship-building.
Operational Oversight:
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, Joint Commission standards, and hospice policies.
- Monitor financial performance, analyze operating results, and take corrective actions to meet goals.
Clinical Excellence:
- Partner with the Medical Director and medical staff to maintain high-quality patient care.
- Support and measure the effectiveness of the Quality Improvement Plan.
Community Engagement:
- Represent the program positively with internal and external stakeholders, including patients, families, providers, and the public.
- Cultivate strong relationships with medical professionals, executive teams, and community partners.

Who We’re Looking For:
✅ Education:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Business, or Healthcare Administration required.
- If not already obtained, must enroll in a master’s program within 6 months and complete within 3 years.
✅ Licensure:
- Active license with the applicable North Carolina Board (RN strongly preferred; PT, OT, or SLP considered with strong hospice background).
- BLS Healthcare Provider certification required.
✅ Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare (6–10 years preferred).
- Previous management experience in hospice or a related field highly valued.
✅ Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and financial management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
