Position Description
The School of Music at Texas State University seeks an engaging, creative, collaborative, and dedicated teacher / director to serve as a tenure-track Assistant / Associate Professor of Opera. Duties begin August 2025.
The successful candidate will be expected to :
- Direct TXST Opera Theater and produce a minimum of one staged production each semester.
- Teach courses on opera production, opera workshop, and opera theater, and other courses according to the candidate's qualifications and needs of the School of Music.
- Maintain a record of scholarly / creative activity and make substantive professional contributions to the field of opera.
- Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and service activities.
- Other duties assigned by the Director of the School of Music.
Position is subject to availability of funds.

In addition to required qualifications for the Assistant Professor rank :
To be eligible for hire at the Associate Professor rank, candidate must meet the requirements for that rank as established by the School of Music. The successful applicant will receive the appropriate rank and title based on established university and school standards.
