What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Quality position at TGG?
As the Director of Quality for a leading Armor and Commercial Architectural Glass company, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of product quality, performance, and customer satisfaction. This role requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in quality management, process improvement, government contracts, and controlled manufacturing. The Director of Quality needs to instill our core values of Safety, Quality, and Delivery across all departments. This position reports to the CEO.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES or DUTIES :
- Quality Management System Development and Sustainment :
- Develop and implement a comprehensive quality management system aligned with industry standards such as ISO 9001 and customer requirements.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve the quality of transparent armor and architectural glass products.
- Monitor and analyze quality performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality documentation, including standard operating procedures, test reports, and compliance records.
- Manage Quality Department
- Work interdepartmentally to ensure Source Approval Requests with the Defense Logistics Agency are completed.
- Supervise the ISO application process and handle (re)certification activities.
- Use systems like Dozuki or similar to manage the quality process and integrate it effectively with Production.
- Quality Control and Assurance :
- Conduct regular quality audits, inspections, and tests to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Develop and implement quality control plans and procedures for defense glass manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality-related issues and implement corrective actions.
- Assist in answering NCRs using root cause analysis and seek the assistance of cross functional employees in doing so.
- Supplier Quality Management :
- Develop and maintain a supplier quality management program to ensure the selection and evaluation of high-quality suppliers.
- Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
- Collaborate with suppliers to address quality concerns and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Process Improvement :
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, manufacturing processes, and customer satisfaction.
- Utilize quality tools and methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean, and Root Cause Analysis to identify areas for improvement.
- Develop solutions on variances that may include working with other functional departments. Work closely with the Sales, Engineering, Process Engineering, Production, and Program Management teams to develop new products, improve existing ones and develop continuous improvement initiatives. Leadership and Team Development :
- Provide strong leadership to the quality assurance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and mentor team members to build a skilled and motivated quality assurance department.
- Compliance and Certification :
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and certifications.
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies and certification agencies to achieve and maintain required certifications.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to quality management.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
POSITIONS SUPERVISED : The Director of Quality supervises all Quality Team personnel such as the Quality Manger, Quality Technicians, Quality Engineers, and Quality Inspectors.
