Job Summary: Our client is looking for a dynamic Financial Controller to join their team and oversee every facet of company's financial. The successful candidate should be capable and prepared to transition into the CFO role within 5 years. The Controller is responsible for managing the financial services department, Job Cost, Financial Transaction Processing, Financial Reporting and Internal Controls.
Key Responsibilities:
• Project Accounting: Ensure accurate job cost processing and reconciliation, cost to complete and revenue projections.
• Corporate Budgeting and Forecasting: o Develop and manage project budgets. o Prepare and maintain detailed forecasts and variance analyses to track project financial performance. o Work with VPS’ Project Executives and Project Managers to identify and address budgetary issues.
• Financial Reporting: Generate monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements with analysis, balance sheets, and cash flow statement and forward-looking projections. o Prepare project cost reports and financial summaries for senior management. Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial reports to stakeholders.
• Cost Management: Monitor and control project costs to prevent overruns. o Review and approve project-related invoices and payment applications. o Implement cost-saving measures and identify opportunities for financial improvement.
• Compliance and Auditing: o Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements including 401K and ESOP 5500’s and State Taxes. o Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits. o Maintain accurate financial records and documentation for all projects.
• Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning. Assess financial risks and provide recommendations for risk mitigation. Analyze project performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Collaboration and Communication: o Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and other stakeholders to ensure financial alignment with project goals. o Communicate financial information and updates effectively to both technical and non-technical team members.
• ESOP Management o Direct external consultants and provide reports to properly distribute shares o Provide data and guidance to the ESOP evaluation firm for the annual ESOP valuation.
Requirements:
• BA/BS Degree in Accounting/Finance
• CPA preferred
• 7 years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience working in the construction industry at a general contractor
Salary : $220,000 - $290,000
