Job Summary
Set up and tear-down meeting and event rooms according to event specifications. Move furniture in a safe and efficient manner. Ensure area cleanliness. Assist servers, as needed.
Job Duties
- Move furniture and put in place according to event documents and safety standards.
· Ensure cleanliness of banquet/meeting rooms by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and/or polishing floors, carpets, hallways and public areas.
- Learn and maintain knowledge of specific room set-up styles.
- Acquire packet prepared by the Banquet Captain or Manager. Prepare daily plan of action to maximize productivity.
- Gather equipment needed for each room/function.
· Clean windows, doors, chairs, and tables in meeting areas, as needed.
- Set up culinary equipment as instructed.
- Collect all trash throughout meeting spaces and dispense into dumpster.
- Learn and maintain knowledge of banquet/buffet equipment; and use as intended.
- Learn and maintain full knowledge of banquet events; such as group name, expected attendance, type of function/requirements, order of program; special requests/arrangements, VIPs, etc.
· Collect, transport, and deliver linen to/from floor storage areas, as needed.
- Set tables, fold napkins, set linen/skirting according to function.
- Transport, set and store supplies to/from storage rooms utilizing checklists.
· Ensure storage area remains organized, and proper storage procedures are followed.
· Perform weekly cleaning of department tools, as assigned.
· Inspect equipment, structures or materials to ensure safe operations.
- Maintain appropriate floor presence, as needed.
- Maintain effective communication with servers, bartenders, captains, and other positions regarding functions, equipment, etc.
- Complete and assist with pre and post-function sidework.
- Take dishes, glasses, and other utensils to the rack area; separate and stack properly.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Ensure proper interactions through attentive, courteous and efficient customer service.
- Patiently answer all inquiries of our guests, visitors, and employees and assist them in every way possible.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Assist department, as needed.
- Additional duties, as required.
Qualifications
· Over three months of related experience and/or training; preferred.
· Self-starting with a pleasant disposition, and strong attention to detail.
· Must be able to communicate in a professional manner with guests and visitors.
Physical Environment
The position performs mostly indoors.
The position requires the ability to perform repetitive movements; and move about banquet/meeting rooms, elevators, storage areas, and it is exposed to cleaning chemicals. The position requires the manipulation of furniture and banquet equipment.
The position constantly requires the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; and requires to perform duties in a stooping, kneeling, or crawling position.
The position frequently requires to move items up to 50 lbs.
The position occasionally requires to move items up to 100 lbs.
