The Project SEARCH Employment Specialist II (ESS II) plays a key role in providing training and support for individuals with disabilities to ensure their success in community jobs and worksite rotations. This position involves supporting adult individuals with disabilities, their families, co-workers, and Project SEARCH personnel to ensure success throughout the Project SEARCH Adult Internship Program, including competitive job placements. The ESS II will develop individualized job placements and internship opportunities, improve existing placements, and work closely with program management to support the general operations of the program. - Promote and ensure adherence to agency mission to support people to lead fulfilling lives with a sense of belonging, purpose, and meaningful relationships
- Ensure all people receiving support are treated with dignity and respect
- Provides individualized support for participants at the host business worksite rotations or competitive job which includes: job coaching, building natural supports, identifying job accommodations, assistive technology, etc.
- Communicates effectively with Project SEARCH program management and other team members (Instructor, other employment specialists, employers, co-workers, family members, school and agency personnel, etc.) as it relates to the person being trained
- Build and maintain relationships with host businesses to identify and develop new internship opportunities
- Develop individualized job placements with the host business and in the community
- Complete accurate and quality daily documentation and reporting related to people’s activities and progress towards goals
- Perform specific job analysis, task analysis, and job matching activities
- Work with individuals, employers, families, job placement specialists, agency personnel, and other appropriate parties to problem solve issues related to training and employment
- Trains individuals in the areas of grooming, hygiene, communication, interviewing and behavior as they relate to successful employment
- Provides travel training to host business or job site if necessary
- Participates in decision making process to identify and implement training strategies and/or services with other Project SEARCH staff and host business staff
- Act as a support team member to plan with individuals, families, and school and agency personnel to determine career interests, specific job preferences) hours, location, etc.), skills and abilities to develop an individualized approach to placement
- Stay current with all training(s) required for the position
- Other duties as assigned
Required:
- Must be at least 20 years of age
- High school diploma or G.E.D required
- Valid driver’s license (not provisional) with a clean driving record
- Must be able to transport people supported as needed
- AA degree or higher
- Experience working with youth and adults with developmental disabilities preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required
- Proficient computer skills, including all Microsoft applications such as Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills necessary
- Must be independent and self-directed
- Must work effectively within a team environment
- Flexible work hours required. Some evenings, weekends, and holidays may be necessary
- Position requires frequent standing, walking, and sitting
- Must be available by use of a personal cell phone
