What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor Clinical Services position at The Bowery Mission?
The Bowery Mission is a Christian, faith-based organization committed since the 1870s to serving people experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty. As a key leader of the Make Progress team (MP), the Clinical Supervisor supervises and supports the Clinical Services department (Advocates, Counselors, Social Workers, Vocational Counselors, Clinical Interns) to provide integrated, Christ-centered care and services that equip residential clients to make progress on their independent living goals. Works with Community Life and Spiritual Formation to establish a safe, welcoming, and trauma-informed community that reflects the transformational love of God. Equips and trains the Clinical Services department to perform and coordinate all services related to the social and mental health needs of clients including clinical evaluations, assessments, and internal/external referrals that support a holistic continuum of care.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide leadership and supervision to Clinical department to support excellence in client care, clinical practice, and daily operations
- Assist supervisor in service delivery to support client Individual Action Plan goals and oversee each client’s progress.
- Conduct holistic individual and group counseling/therapy sessions. Review and develop client Individual Action plans. Interact with internal and external service providers to coordinate care and enhance working relationships.
- Maintain document control system including archiving records according to the records retention policy. Ensure proper incident reporting. Support grievance investigations as needed.
- Directly support MP Community Life functions, including covering shifts as needed and/or ensuring other Clinical Services team members are deployed to support these functions as needed.
- Manage intake processes, working to enhance its effectiveness and supporting review of program candidates. Assign cases to Clinical Services staff. Provide expertise to resolve complex challenges in client service provision.
Work Schedule: Will work one 11:30am-8pm shift per week, and will be scheduled one Saturday per month, all other shifts will be 9am-5:30pm.
Qualifications:
- Embrace the organization’s Statement of Faith.
- LMHC, LMSW or LCSW
- Education: Social Work or Mental Health Counseling, or a combination of education and additional work
- 3 years' experience in ministry, non-profit, or human services with supervisory and strong customer service duties.
- 3 years' providing clinical services with supervisory responsibilities.
- Christian integration in counseling. Treatment and recovery processes for trauma and co-occurring disorders in a residential setting.
- Recordkeeping standards
Preferred:
- Certifications in Mental Health First Aid, Non-violent Crisis Intervention, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-informed Care, First Aid/CPR.
Salary commensurate with relevant education & experience: $80,000-$85,000 annually
