Position Information
Position: Activities Coordinator Job Type: Full-Time; 1.0 FTE
Classification: Non-Exempt Reports to: Outreach & Supportive Services Manager
Posting Date: 3/17/25 Closing Date: Open Until Filled
Compensation: $22 - $25/hr
Working Hours: Full-time hourly position; including shift hours working evenings, including
some weekend and holiday hours; Hours for this position are Mon/Tue 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM,
Wed/Thu/Fri 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
Position Overview
For over 50 years, BFY has been at the forefront of addressing youth homelessness in Minnesota,
positively impacting the lives of the most vulnerable youth in our community, through youth-
centered and culturally-responsive programs that offer a pathway out of homelessness, including
the most marginalized – minors, BIPOC, LGBTQ , young families, and SEY.
The Activities Coordinator is a member of the Outreach and Supportive Services team. This
position builds opportunities to center youth voice within BFY organization and in community, as
well as supports strengthening BFY’s aftercare supports per the organization’s strategic plan.
Responsibilities include the coordination and facilitation of supportive services and activities for
youth at BFY and in the community. In addition, this position will create and engage youth in
groups, activities, and events as part of the aftercare services. This position will be an active
participant in the StreetWorks Collaborative and providing Coordinated Entry Assessments for
eligible minors in Hennepin County. Additionally, this position proactively and meaningfully
engages youth in the community through street, site, and mobile outreach.

Key Responsibilities
Activities & Aftercare
- Collaborate with staff and youth to co-create opportunities to center youth voice at The
- Take the lead on all activities including planning for all programs, Community in the
- Grow the footprint and impact of the Youth Advisory Board (YAB); serve as liaison and
- Expand the portfolio of groups supporting youth currently in program and as a part of
- Plan and facilitate groups both at BFY and in community that are healing, journey-oriented,
(LGBTQ , BIPOC, etc.)
- Plan and implement aftercare activities and events to build community and maintain
program staff
- Initiate, develop, and maintain positive direct relationships with youth within the program
- Provide support, harm-reduction, and safety planning to youth as needed
- Provide direct milieu therapeutic strategies & techniques with the youth in group &
- Provide direct care, supervision, support, guidance, and role-modeling to the youth
- Develop and foster a professional working relationship with legal guardian/family of youth
- Professionally interact and collaborate with outside agencies & service providers to make
referrals and to ensure that a continuum of care for the youth and their families is achieved
- Create, develop, and carry out specific strategies and activities that coincide with providing
Outreach
- Connect with youth by investing approximately two to three days a week to outreach;
- Load and unload outreach supplies
and harm-reduction resources
• Partner with other StreetWorks Green Bag certified outreach workers within the
community
Administrative Duties
- Responsible for maintaining youth files
- Develop curriculum for group facilitation
- Co-create agendas for YAB and facilitate meeting needs
- Document statistical, data management information and grant narratives and activity
- Adhere to agency standards and procedures for scheduling, file work, and record-keeping
- Develop and implement events and activities that align with BFY’s strategic vision and
program goals
Qualifications/ Required Skills
Required
- Two years of experience working with youth in a similar setting
- Demonstrated ability to work individually and with a team
- Demonstrates good communication skills orally and in writing
- Ability to demonstrate commitment to diversity and inclusion
- Must be comfortable driving a metro mobility shuttle bus to BFY partner sites and around
- Must be StreetWorks Green Bag certified (or have the ability to become certified within
- Must clear a background check
- Must have a valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record and insurance limits of
- Must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) exam and complete paperwork for
certification
Preferred
- Lived experience similar to the youth served by BFY
- Bi-lingual (English-Spanish) with high proficiency of verbal and written skills
- Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in youth development, nonprofit leadership, psychology,
social work, or related human services field
