Job description – Cafe Manager/Chef
The Café at Cold Hollow is looking for a dedicated Cafe Manager/Chef to oversee and continue to help grow the Cafe at Cold Hollow. We offer a unique opportunity to have a restaurant management position that offers a daytime shift and a commitment to a family work life balance, whether you are a seasoned vet looking for a change in schedule or a sous chef/ lead looking for the next step but not the commitment to late nights. The Café Manager is responsible for leading both the front and back of house with the daily operations of the restaurant and providing excellent quality meals and service with a focus on delicious craft beverages and local foods. This role requires a hands-on approach to managing kitchen staff, while overseeing and offering support to the front of house team.
Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will have a passion for craft beverages, delicious food and leading the team of people who create and serve them to be their best. This person will have the communication skills and the creative mindset to work with their team to develop fun new seasonal and locally infused menu items that are created in house. They will have strong organizational as well as creative skills to work with the other members of the management team to help plan larger events and projects to expand the F&B part of the business. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Recruiting, hiring and training of new staff members. As well as keeping the entire team properly trained in accordance to all health, safety, food and alcohol procedures.
- Continue to motivate and work with all team members to assist and develop their skills to continue to serve high quality meals with excellent customer service.
- Work with both the back and front of house teams in coming up with creating innovative new menu items both for specials and long-term menus
- Coordinate and oversee cafe, tasting room and onsite events operations for the business
- Create and maintain quality control standards for meals served.
- Maintaining inventory levels, supply ordering, food costs and staff scheduling based on the needs of the business
- Maintain vendor and customer relations including food ordering, coordinating groups and resolving any customer complaints
- Manage point of sale and inventories for that of.
- Create and innovate menus to meet customer needs. This includes working with the bakery manager to keep the bake case and pastry program current and on trend for the season.
- Advocate for infrastructure and equipment updates as felt necessary to ensure safety and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- 1-3 year in culinary positions
- 2 years in a management position
- Ability to work longer hours and multiple days in a row during our peak season in the fall
- Familiar with P&L, food costing, and food management
- Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Safe Serve and DLL certifications a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 annually, commensurate upon experience.
