Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our form located in Beaverton. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in a private law firm legal environment. Family law experience preferred, but not required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to attorneys, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, coordinating appointments and docketing court appearances.
- Draft and proofread pleadings and correspondence with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- E-file legal documents though Odyssey.
- Correctly calculate timelines and deadlines pursuant to ORS, UTCR and SLRs.
- Open new case files in office and also in OECI.
- Review and analyze discovery.
- Assist in hearing and case preparation, including preparation of exhibit notebooks..
- Effective communiation skill is imperative.
- Keeping records of billable time.
- Answering the telephone and scheduling new client appointments.
- Maintain complete client confidentiality .
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role within a legal setting, preferable in family law.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with TimeMatters or similar legal billing program.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and court rules.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
