Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor Assistant

Some Job Responsibilities:

• Maintain on-going communication with employer, Treatment Team, ACCES-VR, OPWDD, residences, and families.
• Provide vocational counseling to individuals and their families.
• When necessary, visit individual’s home to assess work skills.
• Make referrals to other service providers, when necessary.
• Offer sensitivity training to employers and coworkers at worksite, when necessary.
• Attend all staff meetings, ISPs, conferences and in-service trainings.
• Demonstrate the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with individuals, employers, co-workers, community, families, advocates and residences.
• Demonstrate good judgment in the performance of duties, seek advice from program management when needed. Good communication with all parties.

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• One years’ work experience with the DD population or equivalent experience and/or training.
• Valid NYS driver’s license.
• Flexible Work Scheduled to accommodate participant’s work schedule
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Good computer skills
• The Center requires that you use your own personal vehicle
