General Summary
Floor Assistants are the front-line staff who directly impact the guest experience and provide experiences designed to enhance and extend a Family Museum visit by Museum guests.
Working under the supervision of the Education Coordinators, Floor Assistants will be responsible for organizing materials and related activities for programming on the Exhibit Floor and working in the Imagination Studio. Floor Assistants must be able to work independently, have reliable transportation, and be at least 16 years of age.
Responsibilities
SUPERVISORY SUMMARY
Not responsible for the supervision of other staff members, but may work alongside volunteers.
AREAS OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Floor Staff primary responsibilities include engaging guests, providing meaningful experiences that enhance the Family Museum’s programs and exhibits, and participating in the regular cleaning and sanitizing protocol.
Qualifications
WORK SCHEDULE (hiring 2 positions)
- Monday and Wednesday 10:30am-6:00pm, Saturday 9:00am-1:00pm
- Tuesday and Thursday 10:30am-6:00pm, Saturday 1:30pm-5:30pm
ATTIRE
Floor Assistants will be provided a Family Museum polo shirt, a name tag, and badge to be worn during their shift. Floor Assistants must also abide by the dress code outlined in the Family Museum handbook.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Education: Requires a level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of high school or above.
Experience: Requires three to six months of experience in similar environments such as camp programs or activity programs involving young children and families.
Interpersonal Skills: Must possess excellent communication skills, be patient and persuasive in dealing with children, and be able to communicate special problems and problem-solving ideas to Family Museum staff. Must be outgoing, friendly, flexible, and comfortable approaching and engaging with families.
Analytical Ability: Routine and non-recurring problem-solving skills are required.
