Job Description:
Summer Seasonal Position
Must be a high school student and at least 16 years old by hire date.
This role will work in digital records management, archival preservation, and local history.
Examples of Duties:
- Work with Records Management Division staff digitizing historical City records.
- Prepare documents for scanning, produce digital image files, and index scanned records into the City’s electronic document management system.
- Assist with historical research.
- Process a collection of archival records and completing a finding aid/guide to the collection that will be posted to the City’s website.
- Heighten visibility and promote accessibility to City records.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Available to work 20 hours per week for 8 weeks (between the months of June - August 2025)
- Current high school student
- At least 16 years of age by hire date
- Interest in government and Charleston history
