POSITION DETAILS
The Manhattan Educational Opportunity Center (MEOC) was established in 1966 by the State University of New York (SUNY) as the Urban Center in Manhattan, as a result of an act of the New York State Legislature. The MEOC has been funded by the State University of New York University Center for Academic and Workforce Development (SUNY-UCAWD) and administered by Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) of the City University of New York during its entire history. The Manhattan EOC delivers student-centered academic and workforce development programs and serves as a gateway to access further education, career achievement, personal growth, and self-sufficiency for adult learners in the NYC area.
Under supervision of the Academic Affairs Director or other designee, the Testing Coordinator supports the Office in test administration, and the collection and analysis of testing data. The duties of the position include but are not limited to the following:
Participate in the administration of program assessment tests including TABE, CLAS E, BEST Plus and GED exams, which are used to demonstrate an applicant's readiness for academic work, determine initial course placements, educational gain, and HSE attainment
Coordinate the administration of program entry and exit/certification exams, including NHA certification exams
Proctor test sessions scheduled at the Center at varied times
Assist in creating and updating the test session calendar
Coordinate test space and equipment needs
Process exams, including error-checking, digital scanning and scoring of answer sheets, transmission of test data and entering data in Banner
Maintain student databases and test results for various testing programs
Review skills reports and data to assist in the maintenance and accuracy of data stored in the electronic student information database systems
Participate in inter departmental programs to promote and increase student success and retention
Serve as an official HSE Examiner, with approval from NYSED and PearsonVUE
Supervise clerical and office assistant testing staff
Flexible schedule: Day and evening hours are required, possible Saturdays
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Two (2) years of relevant work experience in an academic setting or testing organization, with knowledge of testing procedures. Must be detail oriented and have the ability to establish priorities, manage multiple demands and projects, follow-up, and meet deadlines. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Evening and/or weekend assignments may be required.
Vaccine mandate:
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
