Under the direction of the NA Controller, and in accordance with the policies and procedures of CSI, the principal challenge of this position will be to provide the daily presence of accounting in the Salt Lake City location, provide CSI personnel with accounting/financial direction, including but not limited to: advise CSI managers on spending activity and opportunities, review and maintain accurate min/max levels for all Salt Lake City spare parts and most raw materials, manage Salt Lake City Oracle item master for spare parts, monitor and work through Salt Lake City expected receipts of spares, monitor and work through balances left in Salt Lake City GRNI accounts, and ensure consistent compliance with business policies and practices.

This position is also responsible for the maintenance of the locations cost system, variance analysis, and other financial supporting activities (i.e. month-end inventory valuation and associated journal entries, material loss analysis, and the monthly forecast and annual planning process) within the Salt Lake City accounting organization. Additionally, a key responsibility will be to provide financial preparation for RFAs.

This role will support other locations as follows: ensure consistency among manual journal entries regarding scrap; ensure consistency among conversion cost components of standard costs (all must tie to fully absorbed Plan) review methodology (speeds, processes, etc.); ensure consistency among bill of material yield (Plan scrap) (all must tie to Plan); ensure bills of material are scrubbed annually at all locations; ensure raw material costs tie to Plan; ensure consistent reporting of regrind; review BOM and conversion cost changes. Continuous improvement must be the primary focus.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Monitor CSI cost systems.
  • Prepare weekly asset cycle list and monitor completion.
  • Monitor and manage asset tag application.
  • Prepare weekly spares obsolescence review list and monitor completion.
  • Monitor and review monthly RM, WIP, and FG physical inventories.
  • Monitor and review weekly spares physical inventories.
  • Maintain min/max levels for spares and RMs.
  • Monitor and review monthly bill of material scrub.
  • Collect and report weekly temp time.
  • Monitor and review daily spare purchase list.
  • Monitor and review progress on Open Commitments and GRNI.
  • Validate GDW reporting.
  • Continuous improvement as measured by time savings, etc.
  • Verify US locations standard costs are correct per Plan to include BOM yield (Plan scrap), conversion costs (which tie to fully absorbed Plan), usage rates, raw material costs must tie to Plan.
  • Prepare capital project financial justifications and analysis after written by engineering.
  • Assure that all financial reporting is timely, accurate and in accordance with GAAP and corporate requirements/guidelines.
  • Provide department and project managers with reporting and analysis that will help in the achievement of locations efficiency and cost reduction targets.
  • Coordinate, encourage, and assist personnel in other functional areas with the completion of their respective objectives.
  • Provide the day-to-day accounting presence at the plant. Be available to local personnel for accounting/financial questions and issues.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or another related field required
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience is required, with at least some postgraduate work.

Educational and Other Skills Requirements:

  • This position requires a strong background in cost and general accounting with experience in automated financial systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills will be required to interface with multiple departments and levels of the organization.
  • This position must gain the confidence of the locations managers and professional personnel, to be effective.
