The Director of Clinical Education manages all clinical education for the Department of Nursing. Includes hiring, orienting, supervising, and evaluating adjunct clinical faculty for pre-licensure baccalaureate nursing programs. Leads and supervises the DON clinical coordination team.

The Director of Clinical Education manages all clinical education for the Department of Nursing. Includes hiring, orienting, supervising, and evaluating adjunct clinical faculty for pre-licensure baccalaureate nursing programs. Leads and supervises the DON clinical coordination team.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered RN license in Minnesota.
- Minimum of Master’s degree in Nursing.
- Experience in management.
- Experience teaching in the clinical setting.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain relationships with external agencies.
- Excellent communication and human relationship skills
- Experience with data collection, management, and analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate, advocate, and compromise.
- Network to secure and grow ongoing sites based on DON needs throughout the Midwest.
- Initiate contact and network with clinical sites toward securing clinical placement.
- Develop a process for facility contract management.
- Lead management of facility contracts.
- Attend statewide and local facility meetings related to clinical education as the DON representative.
- Manage active clinical sites and student experiences.
- Manage clinical experience for both faculty-led group clinical and precepted, 1:1 clinical.
- Place students at clinical sites fairly and manage grievances over site selection, geography, etc.
- Manage issues during clinical placement, such as HIPAA violations, student injury, professional behavior issues, and boundary issues.
- Oversee the facility requirements of student experiences: background studies, immunizations, HIPAA training, EHR training, and general onboarding.
- Maintain documentation of clinical experiences for accrediting bodies and Joint Commission.
- Recruit and hire adjunct faculty to teach pre-licensure clinical rotations.
- Orient, in collaboration with course faculty, adjunct faculty teaching pre-licensure clinical.
- Manage adjunct clinical faculty.
- Provide ongoing professional development for adjunct clinical faculty.
- Evaluate adjunct clinical faculty according to DON standards.
- Manage evaluation process and data related to clinical experiences for all nursing programs.
- Create and manage databases for clinical education.
