Coho Technology Solutions is looking for a skilled Oracle Relational Database Administrator (DBA) to design, implement, and maintain complex database systems that support mission-critical applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in entity-relationship (ER) diagramming, logical and physical data modeling, database security, and performance tuning. This role involves analyzing, planning, and implementing data import/export processes, maintaining data integrity, troubleshooting performance issues, and ensuring database security.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Database Design & Modeling
- Develop Entity-Relationship (ER) diagrams, logical data models, and physical data models to support application development and business processes.
- Optimize database structures and relationships to ensure scalability, efficiency, and performance.
- Database Administration & Management
- Plan, execute, and monitor the import and export of data across multiple environments.
- Maintain and optimize application data and data structures to ensure reliability and integrity.
- Configure, upgrade, and administer Oracle RDBMS software to ensure optimal performance.
- Manage memory allocation, database tuning, and performance optimization.
- Apply best practices for database security controls, including user access management and encryption.
- Perform database backup coordination and execute data restoration procedures when necessary.
- Implement and maintain configuration control to manage changes to the database environment.
- Conduct testing, installation, and upgrading of relational database management software.
- Perform database upgrades and apply necessary patches to ensure compliance and stability.
- Security & Compliance
- Configure database security controls to prevent unauthorized access.
- Implement user administration and role-based access control (RBAC).
- Ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory policies.
- Monitor and address potential vulnerabilities in the database infrastructure.
- Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting
- Analyze system performance and resolve bottlenecks, deadlocks, and slow queries.
- Identify and resolve database-related performance issues.
- Tune databases for optimal performance using indexing, partitioning, and query optimization techniques.
- Data Management & Migration
- Manage database changes and implement change requests efficiently.
- Load production data into various environments, including development, testing, and staging.
- Support data migrations, replications, and transformations between systems.
- Additional Information:
- May require on-call availability for critical system support.
- Some travel may be required based on project needs.
Requirements:
- Clearance:
- Security Clearance (or ability to obtain one if required).
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Required Skills/ Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience as an Oracle DBA.
- Expertise in Oracle Database 12c, 19c, or newer versions.
- Strong understanding of entity-relationship diagrams, logical and physical data models.
- Experience with data migration, import/export processes, and ETL methodologies.
- Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and database scripting.
- Hands-on experience with database security, access control, and encryption.
- Knowledge of Oracle Data Guard, RMAN, and database backup/recovery techniques.
- Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and performance tuning tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Desired Skills/ Qualifications:
- Experience working in a government contracting environment (preferred).
- Oracle DBA certification is a plus.
