Mission of the Department : The mission of the Adams County Adult Correctional Complex (ACACC) is to protect and serve the residents of Adams County and the public by providing progressive and comprehensive correctional and rehabilitative services. These functions are achieved through well managed and effective correctional programming, including : the use of pre-trial supervision, secure incarceration, community re-entry programs, and highly accountable security methods.
Purpose : As the Major, you are responsible for administrative, investigatory, and supervisory work including, but not limited to, internal affairs, inmate investigations, implementation and enforcement of all policies, directives, and rules, and training for line and supervisory staff.
Responsibilities :
- Supervises Captains, Lieutenants, Sergeants, and Correctional Officers
- Responsible for conducting impartial and thorough investigations of allegations of serious staff and inmate misconduct.
- Acts as the ACACC’s intelligence officer, evaluating intel and information, and liaising with other law enforcement and corrections departments to share information.
- Reviews and ensures all operational reports, logs, and memorandums from staff are complete, accurate, and filed in a timely manner.
- Ensures consistent enforcement of ACACC rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and directives. Maintains adherence with Federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Conducts monthly security and sanitation inspections, participates in, and reviews emergency drills, and assists with preparation for required facility inspections.
- Collaborates with the Warden and Assistant Warden in policy creation, review, revision, and implementation.
- Assists the ACACC Training Department with all staff training to include, initial, annual, promotion-based, and remedial.
- May act as the Shift Commander.

Compensation : $76,886.16 annually (minimum)
