REPORTS TO: IT-EGS Manager
FLSA STATUS: Exempt, Fulltime
SALARY GRADE: $71,307.00 per year

Position Summary:

Provides Information Technology support for the Gaming Commission and its staff and regulatory oversight of the casino’s Electronic Gaming Systems to ensure compliance according to Tribal/State Compact, Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA), Cowlitz Tribal Gaming Commission Regulations, Policies, and Procedures, Minimal Internal Control Standards (MICS), and all applicable laws and regulations. Honors and represents the mission, vision, values of CIT and the Gaming Commission.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Inspects, tests, and verifies the operation and accuracy of electronic gaming devices, hardware, and software components.
  • Conducts onsite inspections of electronic gaming devices and ancillary equipment to detect hardware malfunctions.
  • Reviews slot machine verifications and paperwork of slot machine moves and deliveries.
  • Tests and audits the operating and financial software programs to ensure proper communication between devices and to ensure security measures are in compliance with established regulations.
  • Observes and documents software changes to gaming devices.
  • Observes activity of gaming operations; ensures all devices are operating properly and reports any discrepancies.
  • Verifies slot project parameters and game settings.
  • Verifies operational software utilizing approved testing protocols to ensure compliance with approved specifications.
  • Updates database records of all RAM clears and key chips; updates configuration files.
  • Participates in the investigation of alleged violations involving electronic gaming devices.
  • Assists in repairing system malfunctions.
  • Tests and evaluates new equipment to ensure compliance with established parameters, regulations, and manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Administers and manages Gaming Commission technical infrastructure.
  • Manages, maintains, and procures Gaming Commission IT hardware.
  • Manages and tracks Gaming Commission capitalized inventory.
  • Administers and manages databases for casino gaming machines, CIP reporting and CIP licensing.
  • Provides technical assistance for fingerprinting equipment and software, video conferencing equipment and services, and surveillance equipment.
  • Participates in the investigation of alleged violations involving electronic gaming devices.
  • Always provides excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations.
  • Maintains and enhances professional skills and techniques through participation in educational workshops, classes, and trainings.
  • Maintains confidential information.
  • Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of traditional form of government, customs, and traditions.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements including the Gaming Compact.
  • Knowledge of information systems technologies, applications, principles, and capabilities, and data networking and processing.
  • Knowledge of electronic troubleshooting and repair.
  • Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions, and implementing recommendations.
  • Ability to operate various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to represent the organization in a professional manner, building respect and confidence.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to remain calm in adverse situations.
  • Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, business administration or related field preferred.
  • Three years’ experience working with electronic gaming equipment, video equipment repair, computer maintenance or repair, firewall maintenance or administration, computer networks, computer security, or related field.
  • A combination of relevant education and related work experience may be considered.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a CTGC Gaming License as a condition of job offer.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background screening / investigation according to the established requirements below.

Tribal preference in accordance with Cowlitz Indian Tribe Code and CIT Employee Policies and Procedures Handbook shall apply to all positions.

Background Investigation Requirements:

  • Pre-employment drug screen.
  • Personal reference check and employment verification.
  • Federal, state, and/or tribal criminal history and sanction checks including fingerprint verification.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear and have 20/20 vision. The employee occasionally is required to stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift and/or carry objects up to 20 pounds.

Work Environment:

Work is generally performed in an interior setting or gaming operation. Exposure to hazardous materials or machinery, dust, allergens, infectious disease, hostile individuals, and potentially dangerous situations will occur. Noise level is moderate to excessive. Frequent evening and/or weekend work will be required. Occasional travel will be required for training, meetings, conferences, presentations, and other events.
