Job Title: Food Pantry Coordinator
Reports To: Food Pantry Manager
Location: 1212 Mariposa St. Denver, CO 80204
Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 8:00am-4:00pm (Schedule is flexible)
Compensation & Benefits: This is a full-time, salaried position with an annual salary of $50,000. Benefits include paid holidays, accrued paid vacation, and sick leave. Additionally, a monthly $250 health insurance stipend and a $250 stipend for personal protective equipment (PPE) for work attire are provided.
Position Overview:
Denver Inner City Parish (DICP) seeks a highly motivated and compassionate Food Pantry Coordinator to oversee the daily operations of the pantry and facilitate mobile food distributions across Denver. This position is vital in ensuring the efficient delivery of food assistance to individuals and families in need, fostering a supportive environment, and maintaining a high standard of dignity for all clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Pantry Distributions: Support the planning and execution of food distributions at the primary pantry and six mobile pantry locations, ensuring accurate and timely distribution of food to all clients.
- Inventory Management: Oversee stocking of pantry shelves, loading and unloading trucks, managing stock rotation, and efficient use of storage areas, including walk-in refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage.
- Box Truck Operations: Regularly drive a box truck to pick up food multiple times a week, ensuring the pantry remains stocked and prepared for distribution needs.
- Client Assistance: Provide trauma-informed customer service, address client inquiries, guide them in accessing available resources, and make appropriate referrals to other services when necessary.
- Volunteer Coordination: Supervise and direct volunteers, assign tasks, provide training, and ensure a positive and impactful experience for all volunteers. This includes overseeing volunteer activities during Saturday distributions as well as recurring weekly volunteers.
- Facility Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pantry, ensuring all storage, shelving, and workstations are properly organized.
- Outreach and Promotion: Occasionally represent the pantry in the community by assisting with the distribution of flyers and attending local events to raise awareness of the pantry’s services and engage potential donors.
- Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all food safety regulations, ensure the proper handling and storage of food, and maintain compliance with all relevant health and safety guidelines to protect clients, volunteers, and staff.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to drive a box truck or a willingness to be trained.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with preference given to candidates who have experience working with diverse populations or in food pantry operations/social services.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Availability to work on Saturdays (8:00am-12:30pm).
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
