Organization Overview:
The Door helps over eleven thousand young people, most referred by their peers, with primary health care, prenatal care and health education, mental health counseling, legal services, GED, ESL, tutoring and homework help, college preparation and computer classes, career development services and training, job placement, daily meals, arts, sports, and recreational activities. Its mission is to empower young people to reach their potential by providing comprehensive youth development services in a diverse and caring environment.
Position Overview:
The Patient Service Associate is an integral part of the health center team. This crucial position is the first point of contact a young person makes with the health center. The incumbent should possess excellent interpersonal and communication, and organizational skills.
Responsibilities:

Greet and welcome young people, answer the telephone, schedule appointments, and overall, provide young people with excellent patient experience in the health center

Screen young people to determine appointments, medical/counseling needs, or other services

Make phone calls, send emails, text messages, or portal messages to remind patients of upcoming appointments, or to re-schedule clients who have missed or cancelled appointments

Maintain, prepare and copy/fax medical record requests

Utilize ePACES (Medicaid website), determine Medicaid eligibility and identify insurance plans

Register & interview young people, assemble medical records and request pertinent information

Scan and file patient documents in the patient’s medical record in eClinicalWorks Responsible for the collection and distribution of mail for the health center

Participates in patient-centered medical home care team collaboration, including team huddles.

Performs other related tasks as requested by supervisor
Qualifications:
-
Bilingual English / Spanish or French required

Minimum of High School diploma/G.E.D. and 2 years of administrative, operations or clinical support experience required, preferably in a medical setting

Ability to establish a good rapport and to provide excellent customer service with young people, staff, vendors, and guests

Tech savvy including EMR experience (preferably eClinicalworks), Microsoft (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other software programs

Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication, and excellent interpersonal skills

Data entry experience and/or strong typing skills preferred

Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a face-paced environment

Ability to work independently
Work Schedule: Full time, Monday – Friday, 9:30 am - 5:30 pm or 10:00 am – 6:00 pm, on site, 35 hours a week, including some evening hours
Hourly Rate: $21 - $23 an hour
