The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Physics and STEM, and will be able to teach along the spectrum of course offerings to students with a variety of backgrounds and abilities. ESD teachers typically also serve as advisors for a group of eight to ten students and club sponsors.
Essential Functions
Dependant on the experience of the candidate, teach either a course load consisting of AP Physics or Honors Physics in alignment with ESD’s Statement of Educational Philosophy
Participate in and contribute to the life of the school beyond the classroom

Essential Functions

- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Work closely with colleagues on the school’s curricular initiatives
- Engage in reflective practice and professional development
- Utilize appropriate educational technology
- Support student learning by working with individual students before and/or after the school day
- Current opening for Science Department Chair, external candidates will be considered
Participate in and contribute to the life of the school beyond the classroom
- Serve as a club advisor and/or athletic coach.
- Engage in professional activities and gatherings at team, departmental, divisional, and school-wide levels.
Abuse Risk Management Standards:
- Adheres to policies related to boundaries with students.
- Attends required abuse risk management training.
- Adheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising students.
- Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
- Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling.
- Generally 40% sitting, 40% walking and 20% standing.
- Minimal temperature variations (heat conditions?)
- Generally hazard free environment.
- 3 years as a Upper School Science teacher
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Physics, or related field; Master’s degree desirable
- Proficiency in educational technology and twenty-first century pedagogy
- Experience designing and implementing a 21st Century science curriculum
- Commitment to participate broadly and cheerfully in the life of the school
- Possess a growth mindset
- Skills to effectively collaborate with teachers
