Position Summary: To fulfill Legacy Christian Academy's mission through the Legacy Learning Center and School Division, which meets the individual needs and goals of each student within a Biblical Worldview. Learning Specialists will work with the Director of LLC, the Senior Director of Student Services, and the Divisional Principal to implement plans, initiatives, and events. This role involves case management, student support, collaboration with stakeholders, and administrative responsibilities to ensure the academic success of all students. With respect to Learning Center Services for students and families, the LLC Learning Specialist will:
Understanding LLC's Mission:
- Learn, understand, and implement LLC's mission and purpose.
Case Management:
- Serve as a case manager for students qualifying for LLC services.
Testing and Evaluation:
- Monitor current testing and diagnosis records.
- Track upcoming evaluation dates and communicate with parents as needed.
Individual Accommodation Plans (IAPs):
- Develop and update IAPs for students in collaboration with parents and classroom teachers.
- Share plans with relevant stakeholders and ensure compliance.
Student Support and Strategy Development:
- Maintain digital student folders throughout the academic year.
- Become an expert in learning strategies and teach students how to apply them effectively.
- Train students in self-advocacy skills to foster independence.
Teacher Collaboration:
- Communicate and collaborate with students' teachers to monitor and ensure the implementation of accommodations.
Parent Communication:
- Send weekly updates addressing students’ grades, assignments, and feedback.
- Maintain monthly communication with external service providers (e.g., Dyslexia, Speech therapists).
Classroom and Testing Management:
- Manage a quiet and structured classroom and testing environment.
- Provide digital accommodations for tests as needed (Level 3 students).
Learning Support Services:
- Adhere to established classroom practices (e.g., weekly emails, study skills groups, Pomodoro technique).
- Coordinate with the Senior Director on standardized testing accommodations (Aspire, ACT, SAT).
Expectations:

With respect to the Faculty and Staff, the LLC Learning Specialist will:
- Serve as a counselor and resource for teachers to support academic success for all students.
- Inform and assist teachers in understanding and implementing accommodations for students with learning differences.
- Act as the primary liaison between faculty, students, and parents regarding learning needs and accommodations.
With respect to the Director of LLC, the LLC Specialist will:
- Report to and work under the supervision of the Director of LLC.
- Meet regularly with the Director to align on goals and progress.
- Assist with administrative tasks and other responsibilities delegated by the Director.
With respect to the Divisional Principal, the LLC Learning Specialist will:
- Assists the Principals with administrative responsibilities as needed.
- Advises the Principals regarding the academic evaluation of prospective students.
- Fulfills other duties and responsibilities as delegated by the Division Principal.

Education/Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in Education
- Teaching certification
- Teaching Experience (5 years preferred) in independent schools, public schools, colleges, or universities
- Experience with students with learning differences
Language Ability:
Ability to communicate clearly in written and oral expression; ability to relate effectively with trustees, school personnel, parents, students, and other school constituent groups and individuals Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of students and staff.
Reasoning Ability:
Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of school management software; and basic office software.
