What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Front Office position at The Eye Institute?
We are seeking a skilled Front Desk Receptionist who is responsible for patient scheduling, registration, check in/check out processes, insurance eligibility verification as well as obtaining authorizations. Must have previous medical front office experience, be extremely dependable and able to work in fast paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors at the front desk, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
- Manage patient check-ins and check-outs efficiently, maintaining accurate medical records.
- Handle phone calls, scheduling appointments, and addressing patient inquiries with professionalism.
- Verify insurance and demographic information at each visit, collect co-payments and patient balances.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations in all patient interactions.
- Assist with administrative tasks, as assigned.
Knowledge, skills, abilities required for the position:
- Previous experience with telephone systems.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Skill in operating a variety of office equipment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
- Ability to work under pressure, communicate and present information.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply policies and procedures.
- Ability to identify problems, recommend solutions, organize and analyze information.
- Knowledge of medical practice procedures and functions preferred
- Knowledge of insurance and billing procedures including Medicare, Medicaid and Managed Care Plans.
Required experience:
- High school or equivalent, preferred.
- One year working in medical office.
