The Farmer and Chef is looking for an experienced Catering Manager to oversee our front-of-house catering operations, support the Founder/Sales Director with event sales, and ensure every event is executed flawlessly. Job Overview:
The Catering Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of catering operations, including on-site execution, planning, and staff management/training. This role requires strong leadership, outstanding organizational skills, and a deep understanding of food service and event logistics. Working closely with our culinary team and sales director, you’ll ensure that every event reflects our commitment to quality, hospitality, and seamless execution.
Additionally, during slower catering periods and as needed in the event of unforseen circumstances, the Catering Manager will provide support to our sister restaurant, Origin, assisting with front-of-house operations and ensuring smooth service. This offers a well-rounded opportunity to be involved in all aspects of a growing hospitality group.
Key Responsibilities:
- Event Planning & Execution: Manage all aspects of catering events, including menu planning, logistics, and on-site execution.
- Client Relations & Sales Support: Assist the Founder/Sales Director in client communications, proposals, and building long-term relationships.
- Collaboration with Culinary Team: Work with our chefs to develop seasonal, innovative menus tailored to client preferences.
- Team Management & Training: Recruit, train, and lead catering staff, creating a positive, professional work environment that fosters teamwork and excellence.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all catering operations comply with health, safety, and alcohol service regulations.
- Beverage & Bar Service Oversight: Oversee beverage service during events, ensuring responsible alcohol service and an elevated guest experience.
- Restaurant Support: During slower catering seasons, assist with front-of-house operations at our sister restaurant, Origin, ensuring excellent service and guest experience.
What We’re Looking For:
- 5 years of experience in restaurant management, catering, hospitality management, and/or food service operations.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and train teams effectively.
- Client-focused mindset with a knack for building and maintaining relationships.
- Proficiency in budgeting and financial management for catering events.
- Culinary knowledge or experience as a cook is a plus; respect for the culinary field is a must.
- Familiarity with POS systems for order processing and inventory tracking.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in event planning and execution.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on event schedules.
