Title: Development Officer, Grants and Foundations

Position Summary
Reporting to the Vice President of Development for the Fund for the School District of Philadelphia (The Fund), the Development Officer, Grants and Foundations will directly liaise with local, state, and national foundation representatives and other funders, as well as stakeholders across the School District of Philadelphia (SDP), to research, monitor, apply for, oversee, and report upon grants and other philanthropic gifts.
Essential Functions
The Development Officer, Grants and Foundations will work closely with The Fund’s President and CEO, Vice President of Development, and Director of Operations, as well as the SDP’s Office of Grant Development, various Foundation representatives, and other potential funders to successfully apply for and effectively administer grants and gifts. They will ensure grant opportunities align with The Fund and SDP priorities, assemble compelling grant proposals, help ensure awarded funds are spent in accordance with grant requirements and regulations, and, in partnership with The Fund and SDP stakeholders, provide thorough, clear, and timely narrative and financial updates and reports to stakeholders.
Roles Responsibilities
- Actively and regularly engage with Foundation, funder, and SDP stakeholder communities
- Monitor new and recurring grant funding opportunities, and provide feedback on institutional eligibility and risk
- Attend and arrange funder, SDP stakeholder, Fund team, and other meetings as appropriate
- Partner with SDP stakeholders to develop and submit grant LOIs and proposals
- Coordinate all incoming grants with CEO, VP, SDP, and accounting professionals
- Generate grant awards, amendments, and payment letters
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of all grants in our database of record, document drive, and other systems as necessary
- Help oversee grants’ financial account management
- Working with SDP partners, provide funders with spending updates and related reports and evaluative materials
- With SDP partners, document grant impact and meet all reporting requirements
- Review and communicate award expiration dates, altered timeframes, milestones, and major changes in budgets to appropriate stakeholders
- Communicate professionally and in a timely fashion with donors, SDP partners, and Fund staff to ensure effective grant management and advancement of program implementation
- Identify and implement improvements to the Fund’s grant proposal and reporting processes as needed
- Help secure and support gifts from individuals, corporations, and other sources as necessary
- With The Fund team, help support special initiatives and events upon request
Qualifications
- High degree of professionalism in dealing with diverse groups of people, including board members, senior executives, staff, community leaders, donors, and funding partners
- Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in communications, non-profit management, business, public administration or a related field
- Five or more years of full-time, paid, professional grant-writing and administration experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Additional non-profit experience a plus
- Experience using Donor Perfect or QuickBooks a plus

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
