The Goodman Group is seeking a DIRECTOR OF PAYROLL to join their collaborative & service-based Accounting team! The Director of Payroll is responsible for overseeing all payroll processing procedures, and the payroll team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and oversee payroll processes and procedures for routine processing, tax reporting, legal requirements and internal financial requirements.
- Recommend, design & implement short-term and long-term strategies to create efficiencies in payroll processing including controls to reduce risk.
- Strategies will include a business plan to centralize payroll functions where possible.
- Staying up to date on payroll laws and regulations, opening and closing new payroll companies and all associated accounts, maintaining payroll related vendor relationships, developing or updating job aides, year-end processes & filing, employee training and support to payroll processors in the field.
- The Director of Payroll will be the software administrator for the payroll system, currently ADP.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Well versed in understanding the payroll function, including preparation, balancing, internal control and payroll taxes.
- Possess a professional demeanor, including abiding by strict confidentiality.
- Ability to research payroll policies and procedures, follow instructions, and accept constructive leadership guidance.
- Deal tactfully with team members at all levels of the company, including any vendors.
- Ability to be flexible in a variety of situations.
- Excellent at collaboration with team members and working on their own, with minimal supervision.
- Capable of maintaining regular attendance and work extra hours when necessary.
- Must be able to speak, and write in manner that is sufficient for effective communication with employees at all levels or management.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- 4-year college degree or equivalent.
- 15 years payroll related experience and/or training, with focus on ADP Workforce Now
- 10 years managing a team of employees
- 5 years of managing multi-state payrolls required
- Possess sound judgment when planning and accomplishing goals
- Have excellent project and time management skills (especially under critical deadlines)
- Extremely detail-oriented and thorough
- Excellent organization, statistical and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in computer use including Outlook, Word and Excel.
