Summary of Essential Job Functions
Zipline Canopy Tour Guides are responsible for providing excellent customer service while leading guests through a 3.5-hour zipline canopy tour for a one-of-a-kind guest experience. Candidates must have a positive attitude, team-oriented mindset, excellent communication skills and be able to focus on safety. Guides will lead up to 2 tours per day and will work 3-6 days per week depending on the season. CPR and First Aid training are required; Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification preferred. All guides will undergo an intensive, in-house training following ACCT standards. Pay dependent upon experience and certifications.
- Will work alongside a co-guide throughout tour
- Ensure course operations are conducted in accordance with The Gorge’s safety standards
- Fit harnesses and helmets correctly and supervise the use of the equipment
- Provide excellent customer service to all guests at The Gorge
- Communicate clearly with co-guide, outpost staff, and management in person and using radios
- Deliver participant ground school instructions on proper zipping procedure
- Monitor guests’ ability to follow procedure throughout trip, and deliver additional instruction as needed
- Facilitate guests' experience while on tour
- Perform technical rescues as needed
- Ongoing assessment/management of risk in dynamic conditions
- Inspect all personal protective equipment (PPE) prior to and after use
- Complete post-trip paperwork
Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years of age
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must pass initial training
- Must pass monthly skills assessments
- Guiding experience in adventure tours preferred but not required
- Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification required (training opportunity provided in-house)
- Current WFR certification preferred
- Ability to communicate and work as an effective team member
- Dependable, responsible, reliable, and able to take directions as needed
Physical Abilities Required
- Must have the ability to perform work at heights over 50 feet
- Must be able to perform all technical rescues associated with The Gorge tour
- Able to stand and walk outside for 8 hours in all weather conditions
- Able to walk or hike in uneven terrain
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Able to pull guests onto platforms along a steel cable
- Must be able to climb a ladder
Schedule
- Must have a flexible schedule with full availability on weekends and holidays.
- Guides are classified as full-time/seasonal.
- Scheduling priority is based on employee availability and experience.
Uniform and Gear
- The Gorge will provide personal protective gear (harness, helmet, radio etc.)
- Staff are not required to wear a uniform
- All staff are required to maintain excellent hygiene and a professional appearance
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour
