What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housekeeping Manager position at The Grafton Inn?
Position Description/Expectation: The Housekeeping Manager needs to be someone experienced that works well in a team environment but can work independently as well. They must be able to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner, to delegate and assist with managing a team of 5-7 employees, and work in tandem with The Guest Services Manager to keep the department running smoothly. Previous Laundry experience is preferred.
· Coordinate with the Guest Services Manager weekly to look at the rooms forecast for the upcoming week and assist with the weekly housekeeping schedule.
· Allocates workload for the team and prepares morning assignments before shifts start.
· Oversee daily cleaning, laundry deliveries, room inspections, daily room cleaning assignments, and set up of all room arrivals.
· Assist with stripping rooms, making beds, cleaning rooms, bringing laundry down to laundry room, delivering clean linens and keeping closets stocked.
· Keep up with public areas, assist with cleaning when needed, facilitate cleaning of lobby, parlors, hallways, game room, fitness center, as well as the Phelps Barn.
· Assist with training of new employees.
· Communicate throughout the day with the Guest Services Manager, Front Desk, and maintenance as needed to ensure everyone is informed.
· Report on all maintenance issues immediately to ensure timely repairs.
· Coordinates and implements deep cleaning strategies for the Inn’s Shutdown Period.
· Assist Guest Services Manager in evaluating employee performance for annual reviews.
· Train/assist in laundry as needed including sorting linens, washing, drying, folding, and delivering clean linens.
· Will be the daily go-to person for the housekeepers to report to with any issues, questions, concerns, and scheduling requests.
· Manager on duty on Sundays and Mondays
Requirements:
· Proven management experience managing a team of 4 or more.
· Previous housekeeping experience with a minimum of 3 references.
· Must be able to lift 20-30 pounds on a regular basis.
· Weekends are required – no evening shifts.
· Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance.
· Customer oriented, have a positive attitude, hardworking, and a team player.
· Must be dependable and have a flexible schedule.
· Ability to maintain a professional appearance and interact positively with Inn guests.
· Excellent multi-tasking, communication, and time management skills to work efficiently without compromising quality.
