A mission-driven public organization is seeking an Employee Relations Specialist to join its Human Resources team. This position plays a key role in supporting both union and non-union employees by resolving workplace concerns, fostering equitable practices, and contributing to an inclusive work environment. Responsibilities:
- Support the organization’s antiracism mission through fair and consistent employee relations practices
- Investigate and resolve workplace issues with a trauma-informed and equity-centered approach
- Provide guidance to managers and employees on conflict resolution, policy interpretation, and labor relations
- Maintain accurate documentation of case activities and outcomes
- Collaborate with union representatives and labor relations staff to ensure compliance with CBAs and labor regulations
- Stay current on employment laws (FMLA, ADA, Title VII, etc.) and ensure policy alignment
- Assist with updating handbooks, policies, and training resources
- Track employee relations metrics and suggest data-driven improvements
- Participate in professional development to strengthen skills in investigations, conflict resolution, and labor law
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or a related field
- 2–4 years of HR or employee relations experience (union, government, nonprofit, or public health preferred)
- Knowledge of or interest in public health, racial equity, and social determinants of health
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and mediation skills
- Ability to apply employment laws to real-world scenarios
- Analytical mindset with experience using data to improve practices
- Passion for promoting an inclusive and healthy workplace
Salary : $28 - $31
