Job Description

About the Role

The Art Museum Registration and Digitization Intern will work primarily with The Huntington’s Digitization Coordinator to digitize works on paper. They will train with The Huntington’s digitization staff on art photography techniques, obtain works on paper handling training from conservation, and apply these skills directly to handling and photographing artworks. The intern will also learn how to utilize The Huntington’s Digitial Asset Management System (DAMS) and our database (The Museum System) to prepare objects for digital public access.

S/he/they will demonstrate a background of working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, geographic and socioeconomic backgrounds, using a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible approach.

Internship schedule: June 9- August 15, 2025. Monday through Friday 8:30am- 4:30pm (37.5 hours per week).

Candidate Requirements and Experience

  • Be currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate in either a bachelor’s degree program or an associate’s degree program. Students must have completed at least one semester or two quarters of college by June. Students who graduated the semester or quarter immediately before the internship begins are also eligible. (Students who are enrolled in a second BA or BS program are not eligible.)
  • Attend college in or be a permanent resident of LA County; and
  • Be a United States citizen or permanent resident (non-citizen authorized to live and work in the United States on a permanent basis; also known as a "green card" holder). Students with DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival) status valid through the internship period are also eligible.

Note: Students can participate in the program multiple times but must intern at a different organization each summer.

Working Conditions

  • The intern will be working alongside a team in a shared office space.
  • Will occasionally walk around campus, indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Stipend: $7,150 total, to be paid out hourly.

  • Access to the Museums Council pass, which grants free admission to various museums and cultural institutions
  • Free passes each month to welcome family and friends to visit the grounds
