Job Description Assistant Controller

Reports to
Controller/CFO
Summary/Objective
Under the direction of the Controller/CFO this position prepares financial information and financial reports to determine or maintain records of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities within an organization.
Essential Functions
1. Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes
2. Supervise, review and audit general ledger accounting functions
3. With the approval of the Corporate Controller establish tables of accounts and properly assign entries
4. Work with Corporate Controller to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end
5. Help with quarterly and year-end financial audit activities
6. Prepare monthly and quarterly sales tax return reports for filing
7. Maintain the Fixed Asset and related depreciation schedules; ensure proper recording of new purchases and disposals
8. Manage employee credit card applications and charges; review employee credit card coding for accuracy before forwarding for entry in accounting software
9. Serve as Payroll Entry backup
10. Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements
11. Perform projects as requested

Required Education and Experience
Minimum of 5 years experience
Construction/Manufacturing Experience Preferred
