Description
Our center specializes in functional medicine, that is, getting to the “root cause” of illness. We work with bioidentical hormone replacement, thyroid, and adrenal disorders, digestive health, nutrition, supplements, and IV therapies. We are seeking to hire a Medical Assistant who will be responsible for assisting with administrative duties at our facility. As a successful candidate, you will be responsible for obtaining patient records and test results, coordinating daily administrative tasks, preparing treatment rooms for examinations, and assisting our practitioners during medical procedures. Excellent customer service and a basic understanding of patient care and medical terminology will be a huge advantage for you. On the job training is included. A cover letter is required for application consideration.
Responsibilities
- Welcome patients by greeting them in person or on the telephone
- Maintain a safe, secure and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
- Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient electronic medical record prior to appointment and confers with the provider regarding incomplete tests/consults or other orders
- Prepares, cleans, and maintains exam room and treatment rooms. Keeps exam rooms stocked with supplies
- Maintains sample medication records, administers medication upon physician order, and responds to medication requests per practice protocol via (fax, phone, and e-script)
- Educate patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions; answering questions
- Counsel patients by transmitting physician's orders and questions about treatment plans
- Maintain courteous relationships with outside caregivers, insurance carriers, labs, hospital, and pharmacies at all times
- Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; keeping patient information confidential
- Performs other related work as required
- Requirements (Preferred)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel and Gmail
- Familiarity with electronic medical health care record systems
- A basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistant practice scope
- Self-management

- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills
EducationExperience
- High School or equivalent
- Medical Assistant: 1 year (Preferred)
- Phlebotomy 1 year (Preferred)

Pay: $18.00 per hour
