Job Description
Job Description
F3 Family Support Specialist
Background
The Isaiah 1 : 17 Project started with its inaugural relief program, Bags
The Isaiah 1 : 17 Project started with its inaugural relief program, Bags of Hope. While this program continues, there is a greater need for supporting, preserving, and growing the fostering families who volunteer to love and care for children in need of foster care.
Approximately 50% of fostering families quit in the first year of service, and nearly 70% are gone by the end of the second year. We believe those qualified to serve as fostering families are specifically qualified and gifted and thus are a limited community resource worthy of protecting and supporting. Region 16, which encompasses 6 of the 11 counties we serve, currently has a greater than 7 : 1 ratio of children in need to available fostering families. This requires children to be cared for in a group setting or with families far outside their known communities. Outcomes for children in a family setting are better than those in institutional settings. Communities are greatly challenged when children in need cannot receive care known to fulfill best practices and provide the best outcomes.
The foundation of The Isaiah 1 : 17 Project comes from the scripture in Isaiah 1 : 17, where we are instructed to take up the cause of the fatherless. Everything we do is so each child needing foster care knows they are loved and valued. When a community provides these children with strong, equipped, encouraged, and well-supported fostering families to love them, we have given them our best and strengthened our future and theirs. Our Fortifying Fostering Families (F3) Program is being developed and expanded for this purpose.
