A long-standing and highly respected Arizona charter school is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide strategic and operational leadership of all financial functions. This is a hands-on role responsible for overseeing accounting, budgeting, grants, compliance, and financial planning, while supporting the growth of the organization, including the development of a new school location.
The ideal candidate is a mission-driven financial professional who is equally comfortable at a strategic level and rolling up their sleeves with a lean team.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the long-term financial stability and growth of the organization
- Partner with the CEO and leadership team to support and guide planning initiatives
- Lead the annual budget process, including preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Manage year-end close
- Oversee accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting
- Lead facility financing efforts and support real estate acquisition strategy
- Maintain compliance with all state, federal, and grant-related regulations
- Coordinate risk management, licensing, and insurance
- Implement and improve internal financial systems and controls
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
- CPA strongly preferred
- Minimum of 10–15 years of relevant experience
- Experience in nonprofit and for profit preferred
- Strong background in grant compliance and administration
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to thrive in a lean, team-oriented environment
- Experience in facilities financing, real estate, or investor relations a plus
