A long-standing and highly respected Arizona charter school is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide strategic and operational leadership of all financial functions. This is a hands-on role responsible for overseeing accounting, budgeting, grants, compliance, and financial planning, while supporting the growth of the organization, including the development of a new school location.


The ideal candidate is a mission-driven financial professional who is equally comfortable at a strategic level and rolling up their sleeves with a lean team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the long-term financial stability and growth of the organization
  • Partner with the CEO and leadership team to support and guide planning initiatives
  • Lead the annual budget process, including preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Manage year-end close
  • Oversee accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting
  • Lead facility financing efforts and support real estate acquisition strategy
  • Maintain compliance with all state, federal, and grant-related regulations
  • Coordinate risk management, licensing, and insurance
  • Implement and improve internal financial systems and controls


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 10–15 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in nonprofit and for profit preferred
  • Strong background in grant compliance and administration
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to thrive in a lean, team-oriented environment
  • Experience in facilities financing, real estate, or investor relations a plus
  • Commitment to the organization’s values and mission

All candidates must be local to Arizona to be considered

Salary : $150,000 - $180,000
