Safety Director – The Kilian Corporation
The Kilian Corporation is seeking an experienced Safety Director for government/municipal construction projects to maintain safety for every aspect of the project. Safety is critical to the success of our construction projects and this position will be the key person responsible for adherence to our safety standards. The ideal candidate will provide proactive, visible leadership in developing the safety culture on the project site.
Essential Functions:
· Conduct and document daily safety and health inspections
· Conduct mishap investigations and complete required reports
· Maintain safety reference materials on the jobsite
· Attend all preparatory and periodic in-progress meetings
· Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements and inspections
· Conduct new employee safety orientation
· Lead on-site safety meetings and toolbox talks
· Perform project hazard analysis and maintain hazard communication programs
· Verify safety training of all workers
Minimum Qualifications
· 30 hour OSHA Certification training within last 5 years
· Proof of 8 hours or more of formal safety training each year for the last 5 years
· First Aid and CPR certification
· 24 hour Competent Person for Fall Protection Training that complies with EM 385-1-1 Section 21 (Current within 2 years)
· Certificate of training on the following
· Excavations
· Fall protection
· Hazardous Energy
· Confined Space
· Health Hazard recognition
· Personal Protective Equipment
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, multi-tasking, communication and conflict management skills
· Computer knowledge in sending emails, daily reports, construction look-ahead schedules
· Strong work ethic with a passion to fulfill commitments
Education and Experience
· Corp of Engineers EM 385-1-1 experience
o 5 years of experience on similar construction projects – must be able to provide dates and descriptions of previous projects including dollar amounts
o BCSP certification as a Safety Trained Supervisor, Construction Health and Safety Technician, Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, and/or Associate Safety Professional preferred.

Work Environment
The Safety Director will be at multiple worksites on a daily basis whenever work is being performed. The worksite environment is constantly changing and may include:
· Outside weather conditions such as extreme heat or humidity
· Moderate to loud noise levels
· Moving mechanical parts
