Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer and Director of Human Resources, the successful hire will perform the following:

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The HR Generalist will work closely with the HR Director to provide comprehensive HR support and ensure the efficient operation of all HR functions. This role will manage daily HR activities, maintain accurate records, utilize ADP, assist with recruitment and professional development initiatives, and support compliance-related tasks. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, HR knowledge, and the ability to handle ad hoc tasks effectively.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Operational Support:

  • Assist with daily HR functions, including onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, and compliance support, allowing the HR Director to focus on strategic initiatives and projects.
  • Maintain and organize employee files, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Use ADP to support payroll, employee data management, and benefits administration.
  • Address ad hoc HR tasks as needed, providing prompt and effective solutions.

Recruitment & Hiring:

  • Assist with the recruitment and hiring process, including job postings, scheduling interviews, extending offers, and onboarding process.
  • Coordinate orientation and integration activities to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.

Benefits Administration:

  • Assist with benefits enrollment, updates, and communication, helping employees understand and manage their benefits.
  • Support compliance with benefits-related laws and company policies.

Employee Relations:

  • Assist in addressing minor employee concerns, conflicts, and grievances by collecting relevant information, supporting investigations led by senior HR staff, and providing input on potential recommendations.
  • Support performance management processes, including performance reviews, development plans, and disciplinary actions.

Compliance & Data Support:

  • Assist with ensuring compliance with employment laws, regulations, and company policies by supporting documentation and record-keeping efforts.
  • Help prepare HR reports, analyze data, and provide insights to support strategic HR decisions.

Professional Development:

  • Assist in developing and implementing employee training programs focused on professional growth and skill enhancement.
  • Collaborate with the HR Director to identify and address employee training needs, aligning with company goals and individual development plans.

Knowledge Sharing & Development:

  • Introduce new ideas and practices to enhance overall HR functions.
  • Develop skills under the HR Director’s mentorship, preparing for potential HR leadership roles.

Support the Development of HR Systems:

  • Assist in designing and implementing HR systems that improve workflow, enhance data accuracy, and streamline HR processes.
  • Collaborate with the HR Director to identify gaps in current HR systems and propose solutions for better functionality.
  • Participate in testing new HR systems and provide feedback to ensure they meet organizational needs.

Implement Strategic Planning Initiatives:

  • Contribute to HR strategic planning efforts by gathering data, conducting research, and assisting in the analysis of HR trends and metrics.
  • Help develop action plans that align HR strategies with organizational goals, enhancing employee engagement and performance.
  • Support the rollout of strategic initiatives, communicating changes to employees and helping with training as needed.

Improve Overall HR Effectiveness:

  • Assist in creating structured processes that promote efficiency across HR functions, ensuring seamless delivery of HR services.
  • Provide support for evaluating the effectiveness of new systems or strategies and recommend adjustments to optimize outcomes.

Receptionist Duties (Shared Responsibility)

  • Assist in maintaining a professional and welcoming reception area in collaboration with other receptionists.
  • Greet visitors and direct them appropriately, ensuring a positive and seamless experience.
  • Answer and route incoming calls courteously and efficiently.
  • Help manage incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and deliveries.
  • Provide backup support to ensure consistent front desk coverage during breaks, absences, or peak times.

EDUCATIONAL / WORK REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S. in Human Resources or related field
  • Experience with HRIS
  • Human Resources certifications are preferred, but not required
  • Present information in forms, tables, and spreadsheet
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • High degree of discretion and professionalism, with proven ability to successfully represent and balance the Company’s policies and expectations with that of employees’ needs.
  • Thorough attention to detail

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business notices, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, etc.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to use discretion and exhibit a high level of confidentiality.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position may require occasional lifting of boxes or files, bending, and reaching to access files stored in cabinets or shelves.
