The Role:
Staff Accountant position will be part of the Finance Department and will report to Director of Finance. This position will provide support to senior management in financial and management reporting, will participate in developing processes that ensure effective and accurate bookkeeping of daily transactions, managing accounts payable, overseeing credit card transactions for accuracy and proper documentation, and assist in reconciling month end balance sheet accounts. We are searching for a team member who has great attention to detail, enjoys data entry and validation tasks, has ability to own workflow and responsibilities within set deadlines, has relentless problem-solving mind.
Responsibilities:
- Daily reconciliation of cash transactions
- Entering all incoming accounts payable invoices, which includes coding expenses to correct General Ledger accounts, ensuring that vendor accounts do not become past due as well as maintaining all invoice records in an efficient electronic filing system
- Manage vendor billing accounts, ensuring that all vendors have a W-9 form on file and preparing year end 1099 reportable list
- Manage review of employee reimbursements per company policy
- Manage review process for company credit card transactions
- Assist employees with travel reservations (hotels, car rental, flights)
- Generate revenue invoices for charter operations, manage setting charter customer accounts and follow up on aged receivables
- Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts at month end (Fixed Assets and Accrued Expenses) and post general ledger entries as needed
- Documenting accounting procedures related to direct responsibilities
- Participate in continuous efforts in making accounting processes more effective and efficient
- Assist with other projects as needed
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
1-3 years of Accounting experience
Excel proficiency required
Data entry and accounts payable experience preferred
Quickbooks experience preferred
Must be detail oriented
Proactive and self-starter personality to fit the company culture
Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external parties to complete tasks and manage and facilitate multiple projects
Strives for process improvements and ability to spot where bottlenecks need to be addressed
Desire for professional growth in accounting
