We are searching for a highly qualified Dental Receptionist to answer the telephone within the practice and provide information to patients, family members, and other physicians. Greets patients in a personable cheerful manner, maintains the appearance of the reception area, scheduling patients, verifying insurance and collecting necessary documentation prior to patient arrival communicating and collecting payment for services, .

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of dental terminology.
  • Understand and comply with policies and procedures associated with a dental practice.
  • Understand and comply with HIPPA.
  • Understand and comply with the HI-TECH Act of 2009.

Essential Functions:

  • Understand and use written information that may be presented in a variety of formats, such as text, tables, lists, figures, and diagrams; select reading strategies appropriate to the purpose, such as skimming for highlights, reading for detail, reading for meaning, and critical analysis.
  • Express ideas and information in written form clearly, succinctly, accurately, and in an organized manner; use English language conventions of spelling, punctuation, grammar, and sentence and paragraph structure; tailor the written communication to the intended purpose and audience.
  • Understand, interpret, and manipulate numeric or symbolic information; solve problems by selecting and applying appropriate quantitative methods such as arithmetic, quantitative reasoning, estimation, measurement, probability, statistics, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
  • Interact with others in ways that are friendly, courteous, and tactful.
  • Demonstrate respect for individuals, cultural differences, and the attitudes and feelings of others.

Physical Requirements:

Duties:

Patient Services

  • Operate telephone to answer, screen and forward calls, providing information, taking messages and scheduling appointments to the patient, doctor's, dentist, and families.
  • Transmit information or documents to patients, using a computer, the mail, or facsimile machine.
  • Resolve complaints from patients, families and other dentist, or dental personnel.
  • File and maintain records.
  • Provide information to patients, families, delivery drivers, lab services, and other physicians about establishment such as the location of departments or offices, employees within the organization, or services provided.
  • Know the policies regarding the services that are available to patients through the dental practice, the treatments available, cost for services, co-payment amounts, and financing if it is available to patients through the practice.
  • Greet persons entering the establishment, determine nature and purpose of visit, and direct or escort them to a specific destination.
  • Receive patient co-payment, and health insurance payments, and record receipts for services.
  • Collect, sort, distribute and prepare mail, messages and courier deliveries.

Records, Finance, and Staff

  • Perform tasks such as proofreading, transcribing handwritten information, and operating calculators or computers to work with payments, insurance, and other documents.
  • Collect, sort, distribute and prepare mail, messages and courier deliveries within the practice.
  • Process and prepare memos, correspondence, or other documents.
  • Receive payment and record receipts for patient services.

Information and Communication Technology

  • Transmit information and/or documents to customers, using computer, mail, or facsimile machine.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.55 - $14.30 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

  • Dental receptionist: 1 year (Required)
  • Insurance verification: 1 year (Preferred)

Language:

  • Spanish (Preferred)
