THE FAMILY | A supportive, kind, and gentle Porter Ranch family seeks a loving nanny with special needs experience. The family values and believes in creating a supportive environment for their daughter and caregiver to thrive. They want this new person to become a trusted part of their family team and contribute to the daughter's growth and development.
This role requires unique patience, understanding, and professional caregiving experience with special needs children.
THE DAUGHTER | She is 11 years old and described as sweet and loving. She has a huge personality and loves engagement. She loves to be sung to and listen to music. Her favorite activities are visiting the mall, going through the car wash, and watching shows. She is nonverbal and wears diapers that require changing. She occasionally suffers from seizures but has medication to stop them.
Note: Specific details about her needs and care requirements will be discussed during the interview process with qualified candidates.
THE JOB DETAILS | Provide attentive, one-on-one care and supervision. Assist with her daily living activities and all personal care routines. Engage in her favorite activities. Walks around the neighborhood. Implement therapeutic activities as directed by healthcare providers. Maintain a consistent daily schedule. Ensure a safe and nurturing environment. Communicate effectively with parents about daily activities, progress, and anything else that needs to be shared. Accompany child to appointments when needed. Prepare her meals - no cooking unless there’s a love for baking.
In addition to providing the girl care, the family wants help with unpacking Amazon boxes, loading/unloading the dishwasher, doing the laundry for the girl, washing, drying, folding and putting away her clothes, running errands such as picking up medication, getting supplies, returning items, etc.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE | Loves working with children. Has at least two years of experience working with special needs children. Enjoys being present and does not feel the need to do something constantly. Enjoys baking.
Calm. Confident. Mature. Affectionate. Intuitive. Playful. Reliable. Flexible. Has a proactive nature. Takes the initiative with their day-to-day responsibilities after the initial training. Takes direction well. Communicative. Educated. Looking for a long-term commitment, ideally two to five years. Stable and grounded. Has a strong work ethic.
Comfortable caring for special needs children. Able to push a stroller with the girl in and help her when needed. The ability to open, close, and lift the stroller and take it in and out of the car.
THE REQUIREMENTS | Previous professional experience caring for special needs children. A minimum of two years of professional nanny experience. Stellar references from previous nanny employers. Lives locally.
Able to work alongside parents and a mom who works from home. Understanding professional and personal boundaries.
Able to make a long-term commitment - two to five years, ideally. The role requires specific training, and the family is prepared to offer the new hire all the necessary tools to successfully care for their daughter and for them to enjoy their time together. They want to find someone compassionate, kind, and loving and seek a new family to submerge themselves into while applying their skill set and obtaining new ones.
A clear and valid driver’s license and a clear background. Although there is no initial request for on-the-job driving, the candidate needs their own reliable vehicle.
CPR/First Aid Certification in Pediatrics and Adults. Clear driving record and background. TrustLine Registered (willingness to be if not registered).
THE SCHEDULE | Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and every other Friday from 4 to 9 PM.
Flexibility required. Occasional overnights, weekends, or Wednesdays may be asked from time to time.
THE RATE | $40 to $45 per hour. Guaranteed weekly hours, health insurance stipend ($300 to $350), cellphone reimbursement $50 a month, paid leave.
