The New York City Charter High School for Architecture Engineering & Construction Industries is a high school located in the South Bronx. We employ research proven strategies to raise high school academic achievement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The High School Guidance Counselor will perform the following duties:
- Provide individual and/or group advising to our students in areas relating to programming, attendance, college readiness, and crisis intervention when necessary;
- Maintain and update records on all scholars, as well advising students on their progress;
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of materials such as transcripts, essays, recommendations, etc.
- Initiate and maintain contact with community-based organizations for Internship opportunities, schools, colleges and other educational institutions;
- Assist in the planning and implementation of college and career readiness workshops with college advisor;
- Plan and provide supervision on college campus visits and other educational trips as needed;
- Provide monthly reports and other advising reports as requested;
- Communicate with parents and guardians on student progress or socio-emotional issues;
- Perform any other tasks as deemed necessary by the principal relating to student success.
- Facilitate caseload of students in an Advisory course that prepares students for various aspects of success in a high school environment.
Qualifications:
- Must demonstrate clear, articulate and effective expressive language and writing skills.
- Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
- Be well-organized, creative and responsible and have the ability to inspire students to reach full potential.
- Must be comfortable with creating basic charts and tables on Microsoft and Excel programs.
- Must have NYS Certification in Guidance by date of hire.
Compensation: NYC DOE Scale
