What are the responsibilities and job description for the Site Supervisor position at The Open Door Network?
The Site Supervisor is the leader and support of the day-to-day team of early childhood professionals dedicated to early learning and the enrichment of children. Under the direction of the Child Development Services Manager the Site Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the child development center. Ensures compliance with Title 5 and Title 22 regulations and performance standards. Assists in the implementation of services in the care, supervision, development, and instruction of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in a child development program that provides a safe, healthy, developmentally appropriate, educational, and supervised environment for children 0-5 years of age (e.g., indoors, and outdoors). Provides developmentally appropriate education and support to staff that advances the cognitive, language, physical, social and emotional growth for a classroom of up to 42 children in a California Department of Education State Funded California State Preschool Program (CSPP), up to 23 children California Department of Social Services General Child Care Program (CCTR), and First Five Funded program and ensures compliance with all existing state child care licensing regulations, program performance standards, policies, and procedures.
General Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be able to pass a physical examination and TB screening.
- Must have adequate transportation, a valid driver's license and meet state child care licensing requirements.
- Must meet state child care licensing background clearance requirements and criminal record history check.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
The following requirements generally demonstrate possession of the minimum requisite knowledge and ability necessary to perform the duties of the position.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must have an AA (or 60 units) which includes twenty four (24) postsecondary semester or equivalent quarter units in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development (CD) units with core courses plus six (6) administration units plus two (2) adult supervision units, or 350 days of experience at 3 hours per day within 4 years, including at least 100 days of supervising adults, or BA or higher (does not have to be in ECE/CD) with twelve (12) units of ECE/CD, plus three (3) units supervised field experience in ECE/CD setting; or an Administrative Credential with twelve (12) units of ECE/CD, plus three (3) units supervised field experience in ECE/CD setting; or a Teaching Credential (A valid Multiple Subject or a Single Subject in Home Economics) with twelve (12) units of ECE/CD, plus three (3) units supervised field experience in ECE/CD setting.
- Has or is eligible for a Child Development Site Supervisor Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing that authorizes the holder to supervise a child care and development program operating at a single site; provide service in the care, development and instruction of children in a child care and development program; and serve as coordinator of curriculum and staff development.
- Shall make satisfactory progress towards meeting the educational requirement for a fully qualified site supervisor, as specified in departmental regulations of Title 22 and Tile 5. For purposes of this section, "satisfactory progress" shall mean completion, with passing grades, of a minimum of two units each semester or the equivalent number of units each quarter until the educational requirement is satisfied. Six of the required semester or equivalent number of quarter units of early childhood education (ECE) or Child Development (CD) from an accredited university or college shall be completed during the next two consecutive regular semesters or equivalent quarters
- At least three (3) years of classroom experience in a preschool setting and at least one (1) year working with food is desirable.
