Well-established and growing mental health group medical group is seeking a full-time Accounting Manager to join the team at their corporate office located in the Berkeley area. MUST HAVE HEALTHCARE OR NON-PROFIT EXPERIENCE
Supervisory Duties
- Manage accounting staff handling month-end close, financial reporting, billing, payables, and payroll
- Recruit, train, and evaluate accounting staff
- Identify training needs and coordinate staff development programs
Accounting and Financial Management
- Oversee general ledger month-end procedures, including journal entries, reconciliations, adjustments, and accruals
- Prepare monthly invoices for various programs
- Maintain budget analysis and ensure reconciliation processes are completed
- Establish internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions
- Ensure financial reporting compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements
- Review and approve monthly and quarterly journal entries
Payroll and Compliance
- Oversee bi-weekly payroll processing, including electronic timekeeping, employee record updates, and 401(k) compliance
- Act as backup for payroll and accounts payable when needed
- Provide 401(k) audit support and compliance reporting assistance
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
Additional Duties
- Lead and participate in organizational initiatives and committees
- Handle special projects as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business (or Associate’s degree with 10 years of experience)
- Six or more years of accounting experience with supervisory responsibilities
- Proficiency in MS Office and accounting software
- Experience with federal, state, and foundation grants
- Healthcare or non-profit experience HIGHLY preferred
- CPA designation preferred but not required
- Excellent time management, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Pay and Benefits $120K to $160K DOE plus benefits
