What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Outreach Specialist position at The Recovery Center?
Recovery Center of Maryland’s mission is to help men and women reclaim their lives from the disease of addiction to alcohol and other drugs and to reduce the incidence of addiction in future generations. We are an agency committed to quality gender-responsive, trauma-informed care to clients with substance use and co-occurring disorders. The Outreach Specialist seeks to establish business-to-business relationships by networking with community providers and creating a referral network where clients are referred to our agency for substance use treatment services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Establish direct relationships with clients in the community and assist with self-referral into services
· Establishing relationships with shelters, transitional housing programs, probation and parole, local hospitals, inpatient facilities, etc. for networking and referrals
· Use a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to work collaboratively with clients and internal and external team members to help support clients in their treatment and recovery
· Remain in compliance with internal and external policies, procedures, regulations, and standards, including all of the agency’s policies and procedures and Quality Assurance Plan
· Document and track information relating to referrals and referral sources
· Present insights relating to referral trends and participate in improvement plans
· Participate in all assigned meetings, staff development, and training as required
· Skills required:
· Knowledge of community relations and outreach experience
· Knowledge of goals and objectives of various public services and programs
· Knowledge of community resources for the homeless
· Knowledge of local community needs and public resources
· Experience in outreach and recruitment program management
· Strong customer service skills, utilized in working with clients, potential clients, referred individuals, and referral sources
· Ability to use spreadsheets, databases, and draft email and written correspondence
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
Schedule:
· Full-time, 40 hours weekly.
· Hours are flexible, with prior approval from the supervisor, and allow for working in the field and remotely.
· Must be willing to take referral calls in the late evenings and early mornings, to complete screenings and communicate with the clinical team.
Requirements:
· HS diploma or GED
· Related Associate’s degree preferred
· Community outreach experience
· Strong interpersonal and engagement skills
· Strong organizational and time-management skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Strong computer skills
· Ability to support the agency’s mission and philosophy, and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity and workplace harmony
· Value for and ability to deliver excellent customer service
Additional Job Requirements:
· Must have the ability to effectively hear and communicate with other employees, the public, and persons served.
· Must have reliable transportation, have/maintain valid driver’s license, and maintain adequate automobile insurance.
· Travel is required as part of this position.
· Ability to operate telephone, fax machine, and computer hardware/software, etc.
· Must have the ability to write in a manner that is legible/readable/understandable.
· Willingness to work in a high stress environment that is driven by team performance.
