As the Health and Fitness Manager you will provide oversight for the daily operations of the health and fitness spaces of the facility. Responsibilities include programming, staffing, operations and safety of the sports and fitness spaces. This includes the group exercise spaces, weight and cardio spaces, indoor track, storage areas, consultation rooms, and associated mechanical spaces. This position is a key member of the program team and serves under the direction of the Program Director ensuring that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.
What You Will Do:
- Manage daily operations of all health and fitness facilities, programs, events and equipment.
- Recruit, train and supervise all health and fitness employees, independent contractors and volunteers.
- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures for the health and fitness areas of the facility.
- Develop and implement programming specific to the health and fitness areas of the facility Develop and manage the short- and long-range planning process for all health and fitness programs with attention to the implementation of a visionary plan for growth and increased program attendance and revenue
- Responsible for designing, implementing, organizing, administering and evaluating programs for the health and fitness area also including securing outside groups, rentals and programs to best utilize the facility throughout all open hours. This may include partnerships with area schools, home school association and special needs groups.

Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.
Experience:
- Three plus years management experience in health and fitness setting with progressive levels of responsibility in developing, planning, managing, and supervising health and fitness facilities and programs. Must be able to assist, develop, and administer budgets, planning, staff development, membership service, and community relations.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage customer service through building a positive relationship with members and guests
- Ability to effectively work with children, parents, customers, staff and volunteers in a capacity of leadership, counseling and education
- Ability to lead and develop a high-capacity staff team
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience which, at the sole discretion of The Salvation Army, provide the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform in this role, will be considered
Certifications: Must have a valid driver's license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm and CPR training within the first 30 days of employment
Skills/Abilities:
- Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems.
- Proficient with standard word and spreadsheet processing and database software applications.
Supervisory Responsibility: Supervise all related staff.
