What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker position at The Salvation Army - CFOT?
Provide quality maintenance service and repairs to the CFOT campus/community in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing, small engine repair, and minor electrical and ground maintenance. This position requires the ability to work independently and as a team to achieve a common goal.
- Perform work as assigned (work orders).
- Review, plan and complete assigned projects without assistance. Report to immediate supervisor if assistance is required on a project.
- Setup/tear down of maintenance tools and equipment.
- Assemble and move furniture, hang pictures, bulletin boards, nameplates, etc.
- Carpentry interior & exterior repairs, doors, windows, flooring, furniture, walls, cabinets, framing, Sheetrock, Spackle, painting, etc.
- Painting interior and exterior walls.
- Maintains maintenance vehicles, tools, and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability and safe operating conditions.
- Maintain and install system component parts (classroom, office, facility, and officer quarters) for the purpose of providing a safe and/or workable environment.
o Toilet and faucet repairs/replacement, supply line replacement, connect appliance water lines.
o HVAC - the proper functioning of the thermostat and zone valves, check batteries, and clean and replace filters.
o Change light bulbs, test/change ballasts, and install/replace switches and outlets.
- Check the proper functioning of all exit signs and emergency lights.
- Electrical repair/replacement of switches, outlets, breakers, fixtures, equipment etc.
- Perform minor repairs, make keys, and troubleshoot locks on cabinets, closets, doors, and desks.
- Plumbing repair/replace Faucets, drains, pipes, and valves. repair leaks, clear drains/pipes, etc.
- Moving and assisting in the transportation of furniture and equipment.
- Setting up and breaking down cubicles, partitions, tables, and chairs when needed.
- Set up and tear down for Campus special events.
- Maintain equipment in Boiler Rooms – clean, lubricate, and repair/replace motors.
- Operate machinery for snow removal and ice melting application.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment while on work assignments.
- Adhere to all safety procedures outlined by the Business Department and Risk Management.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Director.
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and two years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to operate and use various power and handheld tools.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow directions, such as safety rules and operating maintenance manuals.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Capacity to work independently.
- Flexibility to work on weekends and evenings (special events).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.26 - $25.00 per hour
